Art Therapy

Afraid to do art?  Fear no more! Art therapy is a way of learning to plan, problem-solve, cope with fear and anxiety, and express yourself confidently. You don't have to know how to draw or paint.  There is no critique!  You don't even have to make any decisions.  Giving yourself the freedom to do whatever it is in terms of art making, giving yourself the freedom to allow the colors in the crayon box or paint palette to choose you, is exciting and liberating! Making art can help you break down larger problems into smaller ones so that they are manageable and understandable in small doses.

A little bit about art . . .

Anyone can do it.  Even if you haven’t done art since kindergarten.

If you have no idea about what you are doing, it’s even better!

That way you are responding to what you have,

and not to what you should have or wish you had.

It’s about giving your mind permission to be

in the moment you are in and

creating a space that allows creative energy to move in.

It’s about not letting the mind win and shut you down.

It’s about unplugging and quieting the riot in your mind

 for a short period.

It’s about listening to yourself

and not the demands of your community.

It’s about finding a little piece of peace.
